Magical Weight Loss

Author: Shannon Miller

Does that sound about as phony to you as it does to me?

Why, then, is it so easy for us to fall into that trap where we believe that some diets can work like magic?

We’ve all done it. Probably because we are all human and want to believe that we can reach that ideal weight NOW!  With the holidays having just passed, this is the perfect time of the year to be “in the know” about diet plans, particularly the “magical” ones.

It certainly is possible to lose weight by sticking to a particular diet, but there are some red flags that you should be aware of:*

  • Promises of speedy weight loss. Patience is key when it comes to losing weight because steady changes in weight are more enduring than snap changes. In other words stop the yo-yo dieting and keep it off for good.
  • Absolutely none of that! When you restrict an entire food group from your diet, such as sugars or carbohydrates, you are sure to miss out on some essential nutrients.  Also, when you make something so untouchable, you are more likely to want it and to eventually give in!
  • Forget that exercise nonsense…? You might want to be leery of any diet plan which claims that exercise is not necessary. Sticking to a regular exercise regimen is very important when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight.
TIP:  So, remember, losing weight is an achievable goal.  Just be sure to do your research, so that you find a diet plan that will give you long-lasting results!
