Pre-Holiday Burn Workout #2: Simple Ab Workout

Author: Shannon Miller Lifestyle

When working the center of the body, known as the core of the body, form and breathing are incredibly important.

In fact, if you breathe properly and follow form cues throughout your day, you will actually be strengthening your core all day long.

The core muscles surround the center of the body, known as the abs or abdominals, and lower back.

Your abs and lower back muscles work together for:

  • overall body strength
  • protection of vital organs
  • improved posture
  • decreased back pain
  • a nice waistline

Pretty muscles make a pretty waistline, but only when paired with cardio, so make sure to include some low impact cardio with this workout. Also, make sure to follow the breathing cues in order to work the muscles properly.

Your abdominals can actually grow outward if you do not follow form properly. So, you will want to make sure you are breathing properly and pulling the abdominals in on every repetition.

If you cannot complete the repetitions of this ab workout with good form, then decrease the amount of repetitions, and take a break. If you are a new mom and you do not know if you have diastasis recti, see or ask a professional for help.

SML Diet Tip: Drink (real) green tea. Brew real, natural green tea for an unbelievable list of health benefits plus a metabolic boost!
